the kokoro table lamp is part of the MaMo Nouchies series produced by ingo maurer in association with dagmar mambach in 1998. the use of paper by isamu noguchi was the catalyst for the cross-cultural designs which emerged from the series. like all lamps in the series, the kokoro is made completely by hand. plain sheets of handmade paper are transformed into different shapes by folding and pulling the paper. several years of development went into discovering the perfect texture for these pieces, lamps which are not so much designed, but shaped.
kokoro stands 31.5"h, comes with a continuously variable transformer-dimmer and a 50w bulb.
german born artist and light objects designer, ingo maurer has been the recipient of many design awards and his work has been featured in numerous exhibitions, including the centre georges pompidou, the fondation cartier in paris, the stedelijk museum in amsterdam and the museum of modern art in new york. considered an outsider with rare artistic style, ingo maurer adds provocation and fun to the world of design.
