Lobmeyr -
patrician collection by josef hoffmann for lobmeyr
the gentle contours of these original josef hoffmann shapes make the patrician series a classic. this elegantly balanced stemware was designed by hoffmann for lobmeyr in 1917, and is considered one of his finest designs. the material is very fine (muslin) glass that is mouthblown in wooden molds. named after the finely woven french fabric, muslin glass is crystal blown to a thickness of only .7 – 1.1 mm. it appears delicate, but is remarkably resilient thanks to its inner elasticity & formal construction. these glasses have a very dainty rim, creating an unforgettably delicate contact between mouth, glass, & refreshment. many of the items below are stocked for immediate delivery.
’the fascination about glass? it is one of the oldest materials mankind understood to shape. imagine: you melt some sand & look at the result.’-- ted muehling
the fascination for crystal has been the driving force behind lobmeyr for almost 200 years. through six generations the properties of crystal have been tested & researched and its handling & forming properties explored. whether it’s wafer thin muslin glass or glass that owes its shape to cutting – lobmeyr reinstates the beauty of this omnipresent material, bringing elegance & refinement back to everday life.
