looking like a tractor seat and a bicycle saddle and are 50 years old….they are two pieces designed by achille and pier giacomo castiglioni in 1957 that zanotta still has in its catalogue proudly.
the mezzadro stool and the sella chair seat were introduced back in 1957 at the exhibit "shapes and colours in nowadays home" at villa olmo in como in one "italian living room" with a ceiling suspended tv-set, abstract wall decorations and metal washbasins '800 style.
since the very first year it entered the zanotta production (1970) mezzadro became successful among the design lovers for its expressive strength until its promotion in museum (1972): the permanent collection of the ny museum of modern art.
in the following years it was included in the museum's design collections in munich, jerusalem, zurich and prague.
the seat is a tractor seat attached to a chrome-plated steel spring stem and a natural colored steam-treated beech footrest. the seat is available in aluminum as well as orange, red, yellow, white, or black lacquer. availability may change.
