while michele de lucchi uses philosophical and poetic terms to describe his designs, they are ultimately very pragmatic, as seen in his latest collections of borosilicate blown glass. created in response to new energy use standards in europe and now in north america, these lamps have sandblasted shades which hide the ugly compact fluorescent spiral bulbs, yet reveal the transparency of the lamp, designed with the collaboration of alberto nason.
