originally designed in 1964 by oiva toikka, this range of glassware was the outcome of a technical challenge. the idea of using droplets of glass as decoration came to toikka when he was thinking of ways to cover the joint marks that were left on the surface of pressed glass pieces during the production process. he created rings of different size droplets that rhythmically grow away from the central point, like a drop of water.
the most renowned finnish glass art designer, oiva toikka’s imagination and rich, bold way of expressing himself sets him apart from mainstream nordic design. toikka is a master of glassmaking and has played a significant role in keeping craftsmanship & the glass art alive.
