the fold lamps derive their name from their construction – an aluminum sheet is subjected to multiple folding to create the traditional motif of the product. the reference to the tradition of lighting design is evident in the silhouetted form of the fold lights & in the application of a braided fabric cable. despite the deceptively simple design, the fold lamps are heavily reliant upon the newest technology & manufacturing techniques for their construction. in 2006, the fold lamp was added to the permanent collections in the MoMA in new york & the art institute in chicago.
