a new tissue box cover, tissue, aptly named for what it covers, is now in production by the danish company essey, makers of the award-winning binbin wastepaper basket. john brauer, designer for essey, says about tissue: ¨the idea came to me when i passed a tissue box in japan and noticed the crumpled paper sticking out. in that particular case, the box cover did not reflect the content. i wanted to have balance between the cover and content to give the product a relevant identity.
manufactured in finland using a composite of pe and synthetic rubber, tissue has a fine washable texture and has some elastic flexibility to accommodate slight variations in the standard size tissue cube in the north american and european markets.
