the italian designed and manufactured sottiletto bed has a visual lightness that suggests the influence of eastern minimalism. the multi-layer beech plywood headboard is .4" thick, molded to arch gently back and echo the curve of the spine. the frame is constructed for maximum stability and the platform of the bed has a series of slats separated by acrylic which facilitates circulation of air beneath the mattress.

chiristof burtscher was born in austria in 1964. he started as a master-carpenter and wood carver. patrizia bertolini was born in italy in 1964 and graduated from rome ISIA, department of industrial design. they met at istituto europeo di design in milan, where they started to work together mixing their different projective styles. in 1991 they were in vienna and then moved to bolzano (italy) where they started their new studio in 1995. in addition to winning first prize at "young & design" 1997 and 1998 their work can be also be found in several exhibitions and competitions around the world.
