featured in time magazine as movers and shakers in the design world, the dynamic duo of esque design strives to achieve a coherent vision of functional home accessories, lighting, and architectural detailing through experimentation with various forms and techniques. their interest is in the inherent attributes of glass, which they infuse into each aspect of the living environment. the name esque refers to the suffix, and is a nod to the acknowledgment of outside influences and inspirations and the idea that we cannot create in a vacuum, so must rely on our knowledge of the past to assemble our future.
justin parker and andi kovel create designs that tease the eye while engaging the imagination. parker's blown-glass uranium thickie vase was created by layering thin veils of color - including greenish uranium glass amidst clear glass. the exterior surface is frosted through careful polishing done by hand so that the colored glass is only a shadow when looking through the side. the thickie vase is best admired from the top where you can view the different layers of glass. the one of a kind battuto thickie vase is similar to the uranium thickie vase although it has a different color palette and a unique frosted pattern on the outside of the vase.
uranium thickie vase: 9.5"h x 8"w; inner vase: 7.25"h x 2.75"w; 40 lbs
