Just in time for Halloween, Witches’ Kitchen is a hand-crafted kitchenware collection inspired by the witches & wizards of western lore. This line is designed by Studio Tord Boontje and is an Artecnica
Design with Conscience™ project, which is a collaborative exercise in sustainable design. The
Design with Conscience™ products reintroduce traditional craft into the high design landscape as well as using eco-friendly materials and production methods. Witches’ Kitchen is handcrafted by artisan groups from three different South American countries. The black ceramic cookware is hand-molded by Colombian artisans, wooden kitchen utensils are hand-carved by Guatemalan craftsmen, and kitchen couture is hand-sewn by Brazil’s Coopa-Roca women’s cooperative.
The black ceramic casserole and saucepan both come with matching lids that double as serving bowls. The cookware is made using traditional pottery methods and embellished by imprinting leaves into the wet clay. Naturally lead and toxin free, the cookware can be used on the stovetop, in the oven, or in the microwave.
The wooden utensils are intricately carved and made from sustainable Guatemalen wood. The set includes double ended utensils consisting of serving & tasting spoons, a serving spoon & fork, and a carving & serving fork. There is also a set of wooden witch hands that can be used to toss and serve salads.
