perhaps the most biographical production from mr. velcovsky and qubus design, 'an ornament and a crime' is wrapped in traditional czech details. what could be better than defacing a lenin bust with a traditionally middle class dinnerware pattern? it is a lot more beautiful than some other possibilities we could think of.
the actual title more than likely stems from Loos, who suggested that elimination of ornamentation from functional objects was a clear direction towards a modernist future. in a way perhaps qubus is telling us that decor on lenin has made him terribly obsolete.
