cor unum (latin for ‘one heart’) has been producing hand-made ceramics since 1953. cor unum is based in a town in the netherlands that is well known as a european ceramics center, but today there are also locations in 13 european countries, japan, taiwan, hong kong, brazil, and the united states. cor unum has worked with many great designers to create their pieces and numerous museums have purchased items from their collection to display, including the museum of modern art in nyc and san francisco.

the 3 vase was created by nl architects in 1998. nl architects is an architecture firm in amersterdam whose projects often focus on ordinary aspects of everyday life and are enhanced or twisted in order to bring out the unexpected potential. for this project they took several different generic vases and merged them into one design. the result is an architectural vase with no obvious top or bottom and can be placed in various positions.
