the bottle opener by giovanni alessi is an object whose function is not immediately obvious - its function is concealed though its mode of operation is in actual fact simple and ingenious. to open a bottle, one is surprised to find oneself making the gesture of putting the cap back on. the opener is placed onto the top of the
bottle, pressed as if to put the cap on, and the cap is removed and held by a magnet inside the bottle opener.
the movement is enhanced by the pleasure of handling an ovoid shape in stainless steel. objects can be classified in many ways, and one division is between those whose function is immediately obvious, and in this area there are already many bottle openers of excellent quality. then there are those magical objects that solve a simple everyday
