when the block lamp was introduced in 1996, design juries and lovers of beautiful objects took it to their hearts, where it has remained. in 2006, 10 year anniversary cord colors were introduced in black, red, and white. in late 2007, design house stockholm introduced the amber block lamp featuring colored glass with a brown textile cord.
the block lamp, designed by harri koskinen for design house stockholm, is still one of dhs’s most popular products. with its unique features and scandinavian touch, it has been part of the MoMA since 2000. each part of the block lamp is hand cast and undergoes an extremely long cooling process to avoid cracking later on if exposed to strong temperature changes. the matte bulb shape is sand-blasted. electric bulb is included.
