UMs are unlike any other bag that unicahome offers, and may very well be unique. we’ve never seen any bags like these before, and we’re very excited about them.
josh jakus took on two creative challenges when designing UM bags: to make use of the unique properties of pressed wool felt and to transform a two-dimensional surface into a three-dimensional space – and to do it as simply as possible. we think he succeeded.
UMs are little more than pieces of grey felt with zippers. they lay flat for storage and cleaning, but can be zipped up into bags. that’s all you have to do; if you know how to use a zipper, you know how to use and transform UMs.
UMs are made from two layers of industrial wool felt. the felt comes from factory excess, pieces that would normally go to waste. you could consider this a environmentally friendly bag, since it recycles natural materials and looks good doing it.
UMs are cut and sewn in the san francisco area.
