you probably know edward gorey best as the animator behind the introduction to PBS's "mystery" series (you know, the one hosted by emma peel, i mean diana rigg). but, as you've probably guessed by now, that's not all that gorey did.
gorey, who died in 2000, produced over 100 books and other works and illustrated countless others. he's known for his unique and skillful illustration style. you'd know it if you've seen it; it's almost gothic, but not quite.
in 1969 and 1970, gorey teamed up with peter f. neumeyer - an author, editor and translator of prose and poetry for children and adults - to create two books: donald and the... and donald has a difficulty. these two books have been rereleased. no gorey fan should be without them.
