in 1989 when the tolomeo table/task was given the compasso d'oro award for italian industrial design,
it was credited with having achieved the perfect marriage between design and engineering that works together in total 'sync' to materialize an idea and create the perfect object for industrial production.
since then, the tolomeo award winning design, engineering and performance features have been incorporated in a complete series of models, for table, floor, wall, track, and suspension applications.
the tolomeo design is the result of a focused product development project of artemide. a project that in 1986 artemide assigned to the talented world famous industrial designer michele de lucchi, with the collaboration of designer giancarlo fassina, head of artemide's r & d department.

tolomeo classic uses a INC640 1x100W or FLU340 1x13W (bulb not inlcuded) choice of table mounting in polished die-cast aluminum:
- 9" round base x 31"w x 26"h
- clamp (2" max. clamp opening)
- in-set pivot (2.75" max. support depth)
6" diameter diffuser in stamped, anodized matte aluminum, tiltable and 360° rotatable on lampholder with incorporated on/off switch
tolomeo mini uses a INC640 1x100W or FLU340 1x13W (bulb not inlcuded)
20% smaller than the Tolomeo Classic
choice of table mounting in polished die-cast aluminum:

tolomeo micro uses a INC380 1x60W (bulb inlcuded) 40% smaller than the tolomeo classic
