'moth' lantern designed by ted muehling for nymphenburg porzellan.
one of muehling's newest designs, created as part of his collaboration with nymphenburg.
the ‘moth’ lantern is hand-crafted out of nymphenburg’s standard shimmering and delicate white porcelain and is unglazed. however, the beauty of this design is in the details – the impression of moths dancing around the light. a few of their wings protrude out creating small windows, which allows more light to escape the lantern and flicker and dance around the room. standard tea lights are fine.
nymphenburg is one of the oldest and most revered art and design manufacturers in the world. founded in 1747 by elector max the III of bavaria and located since 1761 on the northern lane at the nymphenburg palace, they have now had over 250 years of uninterrupted porcelain production. they represent the highest standard in porcelain, hand-crafting every item and even producing their ‘white gold’ themselves in the nymphenburg mill.
