the barcelona lounge chair, stool/ottoman and couch designed by ludwig mies van der rohe in 1929.
little can be said about these fabulous pieces that hasn't been said before. the barcelona is a staple of modernist design and part of the permanent design collection of MOMA. originally designed in 1929 for the german pavillion at the international exhibition in barcelona, knoll is the only company with a worldwide licence to produce these pieces to the exacting standards of van der rohe's original designs.
each item is available in a choice of hand-polished stainless steel or shiny chrome finish and individually sewn squares of fine leather. straps and buttons are made of cowhide while cushions are made of urethane foam with dacron polyester fiberfill. additionally, the signature of ludwig mies van der rohe is stamped onto each piece to assure authenticity. beware of inferior knock-offs.
lead time 5 weeks for black volo leather. other leather colors take approximately 6-8 weeks for stainless versions, 10-12 weeks for chrome versions.
