the raw table designed by garth roberts for zanotta in 2006.
raw gives the appearance of being a throwback to another era. its simple graphite colored varnished steel frame supports a top made of 1.77" thick seasoned solid oak wood staves which are oxidized by means of heat vaporization and treated with an oil finish. the staves are adjustable and can be squared off and aligned or placed askew as desired. this piece is signed by the designer.
garth roberts was formally trained as an industrial designer. he later become involved in many other related areas of industrial design, including furniture design, housewares and interiors. his collaborations include dkny as well as proprietary products designed via group inc. originally from canada, his designs tend to infuse the irony of european design with the straight forward approach of north american culture.
