the butterfly coffee table designed by alexander taylor for zanotta in 2006.
the butterfly coffee table has a base frame intricately designed and constructed of bent plywood and veneered in a choice of natural, wengé-stained, black painted or white painted oak. the wonderful versatility of the base frame is that it can be flipped over so that the wider part or the narrower part can support the .39" thick tempered plate glass top.
30-year-old alexander taylor is from county durham in the northeast of england. he studied furniture and product design at nottingham trent university. he worked for london-based architectural and design studio procter:rihl and designed kitchens in-house for the german firm zeyko before launching his solo career in 2002. his career break was his "antlers coat hook" made out of metal wire in the shape of antler horns which won the home accessory of the year award from elle deco home after being launched in milan in 2004.
