'rokki' rings designed by orfeo quagliata for phuze designs.
it may not be possible to turn glass into stone, but orfeo has come close yet again ( at least in appearance and shape ) with another one of his handmade glass rings – the ‘rokki’ ring.
while it might have the shape of a carefully shaped and polished stone piece, there is no doubting it's made of glass once you see light shining through one - the colors practically come alive.
and while six different color styles are available, due to their handmade nature, each rokki ring is unique ( just as each one of orfeo’s other pieces ). as such, the exact size, tone, mixture, and opacity of the ring will vary from piece to piece.
orfeo quagliata is the son of renowned glass artist narcissus quagliata and grew up on an artist commune in san francisco. after spending time in austria with his grandmother herta jalkotzy, an award winning jewelry designer in the wiener werkstaette, orfeo apprenticed for 2 years in spain with josef fernandez-castrillo before moving to milan to work with the famed grimaldi watch family. today, quagliata lives and works in mexico city where he produces these exceptional glass designs.
