designed by tord boontje, the come rain come shine lamp was sponsored by the british council and is manufactured by the coopa roca women's co-op in rocinha, rio de janiero's largest shantytown. coopa roca assists women by allowing them to work from their homes and thereby contribute to their family's income.
the chandelier consists of a metal structure wrapped tightly in ribbon. it is then covered in a crocheted piece that falls loosely at the bottom. the piece is then covered with handmade fabric flowers.
