royal copenhagen is a danish company that has been producing porcelain since 1775. it was founded as a result of experiments on hard porcelain done by Frantz Heinrich Mueller and funded through a partnership with the royal family until 1868 when the company passed into private ownership. royal copenhagen today is a producer of craftsmanship and design with a contemporary international profile, selling products that are both functional and collectible.
originally designed in 1779, this service was redesigned in 1880 by chief designer arnold krog. the plain or braided blue flower service consists of a single large bouquets surrounded by 4 smaller bouquets. there are 15-20 different bouquets; each is chosen by the particular artist. handmade in denmark, the dinnerware is microwave and dishwasher safe.
