lautner by barbara-ann campbell-lange.
american architect john lautner (1911-1994) is responsible for some of the most original buildings of the space age and the 20th century. the homes he designed in the los angeles area, including the silvertop and the chemosphere house, are synonymous with the hopes and dreams of an entire era. characterized by sweeping rooflines, steel beams, and glass-paneled walls, his buildings display a combination of minimalism and fantasy, often integrating water and incorporating the surrounding landscapes. lautner always placed great importance on the relationship between humans, space, and nature.
barbara-ann campbell-lange studied architecture in london, new york, and cambridge. she is a director of the campbell-lange workshop and lectures at the royal college of art.
