product designer and architect michele de lucchi is internationally known for the chairs and lighting he produces from his studio in milan. a member of the memphis group with ettore sottsass of the early 1980s, de lucchi has also had success working with such international manufacturers as mauser, kartell, dada, artemide, cucina, matsushita, poltrana frau, and olivetti, for whom he has been director of design since 1992. he has envisioned various personal theories on the evolution of the workplace and has developed many experimental projects for companies such as siemens, compaq computers, philips and vitra. the main focus of his architectural designs have been office buildings in japan, germany and italy. this tome provides a comprehensive overview of this man's career and documents all of his many projects to date. as if that weren't enough, there are also reprints of de lucchi’s key critical writings.
