the ‘marli’ series, designed by australian designer steven blaess, is adding several new items to its product line. in the australian aboriginal language, marli means ‘butterfly’. for alessi, marli has become a series of objects with an aerodynamic shape which is combined with the plasmatic nature of the object. with its small wings, marli can be used on the wall as a hook or clothes rack, as a key ring, bottle opener, or it can expand and transform to hold and contain things, such as a basket for fruit, bread, etc.
