thanks to his ability to hone in on the public's taste, michael graves has been a design hero for more than a decade. he enjoyed a golden age between the 1980s and the first half of the 1990s, merging a series of different cultures - the european arts & crafts tradition, art deco, & american pop - into a single language. during this time, he managed to fascinate the public in the way few designers ever do, creating some of the most popular objects in alessi's history. his first design for mass production was the kettle with bird-shaped whistle in 1985. in 2005, to celebrate its 20th anniversary, alessi has released a limited edition version of objects created by michael graves during his golden period.
