the metamorph pen was designed by asymptote, forward-thinking designers hani rashid & lisa ann couture’s design, architecture, & research practice in new york. asymptote has produced a number of key works in recent years that involve the use of digital tools & technologies – one of the most important being the 3DTF, a virtual reality trading floor designed for the new york stock exchange. this project is the first large scale virtual reality environment commissioned and used for business purposes. another project of equal importance is the guggenheim virtual museum, designed to incorporate & house their digital and internet related art collections. the project exists solely on the internet as a ‘digitally’ accessible museum, using architecture & other spatial paradigms as the basis for its design and experience.
