the tokyo pop armchair & sofa, constructed from polyethylene, were designed by tokujin yoshioka - winner of the mainichi design award of 2001. the tokyo-pop series, launched in 2002 and enlarged in 2003, is probably his most famous work. it is the commercial evolution of an original honeycomb paper armchair prototype carefully shaped on the basis of the imprint left by a body while settling into it. the word 'design' for tokujin yoshioka means to convey something fascinating, surprising and joyful. this sofa, manufactured by driade, is available in white or black anthracite. the tokyo pop series can be used indoors or out.
driade is an aesthetic workshop that worked right from the start with designers able to anticipate new lines of research and trends. it proposes a philosophy of home-living based on the conviction that eclecticism, cultural collage, curiosity, and surprise represent the true sense of our age. through the years it has produced furniture and objects to suit every furnishing & lifestyle requirement.
