the tokyo pop sofa, constructed from polyethylene, was designed by tokujin yoshioka, winner of the mainichi design award of 2001. the tokyo-pop series, launched in 2002 and enlarged in 2003, including a sofa, an armchair, a lounge chair, a high table and some stools, is probably his most famous work. it is the commercial evolution of an original honeycomb paper armchair prototype carefully shaped on the basis of the imprint left by a body while settling into it. the word “design” for tokujin yoshioka means to convey something fascinating, surprising and joyful. this sofa, manufactured by driade, is available in white sand, light orange, or green grey. the tokyo pop can be used indoors or out. suitable for indoor or outdoor use. $225 freight charge for single sofa purchase within the continental US. purchase of multiple tokyo pop items will be quoted.
