the float "l" ceiling/suspension lamp was designed by james irvine in 2000 for artemide. designed for direct/indirect softly diffused energy saving fluorescent lighting, this lamp features an upper diffuser of clear polycarbonate with optional blue or topaz filters, and a lower diffuser in opaline polycarbonate. the lamp body is composed of stamped aluminum with a white lacquer finish and is held in place by four teflon coated cables in the suspension model. the ceiling model of this lamp mounts directly to the ceiling whereas the suspension model mounts to a canopy which is of white molded thermoplastic and steel and incorporates a 120v fluorescent ballast, UL listed.
