yan kaplicky and amanda levete of future systems: "initial sketches, mock-ups and photographs representing a new tea and coffee set. future systems, amongst other architects, were invited by alessi to present their ideas. there are basically four elements envisaged. coffee pot/infuser, sugar bowl, milk jug and cup. the basic material is heat-resistant clear glass with timeless qualities. various shapes are blown out creating thin double walls. the handles sheathed in thermoplastic resin provide a heat break for safety and gentle touch sensation. the coffee pot/infuser uses the well-known cafetière principle for coffee and infusion making. the transparency of glass and possibility of seeing the colour and nature of the content is the main design principle. the whole set is made of simple forms, a strikingly elegant and modern image. a special tray will complement the whole set.” designed with andrea morgante.
