Lobmeyr -
loos collection by adolf loos for lobmeyr
designed by architect adolf loos in 1931, loos has become another lobmeyr classic. this bar set was ahead of its time with its clear, uncompromising concept of form. made with a so-called brilliant diamond pattern on the base, each line is cut by hand and carefully matte-polished. loos’ pattern was highly influential on modern glass design in the mid to late twentieth century. like all crystal produced by lobmeyr, each piece is blown, cut, engraved & polished by hand to ensure that every detail is exact.
’the fascination about glass? it is one of the oldest materials mankind understood to shape. imagine: you melt some sand & look at the result.’-- ted muehling
the fascination for crystal has been the driving force behind lobmeyr for almost 200 years. through six generations the properties of crystal have been tested & researched and its handling & forming properties explored. whether it’s wafer thin muslin glass or glass that owes its shape to cutting – lobmeyr reinstates the beauty of this omnipresent material, bringing elegance & refinement back to everday life.
